Join the Green Team!

Each week, explorers connect with the natural world through gardening, soil studies, nature walks, and hands-on environmental projects. While every week includes planting, observing, and exploring outdoors, each theme highlights a unique learning focus; and every explorer goes home with something they grew or created.

&
August 10th – 14th

Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine!

  • Explorers learn to reduce waste, reuse materials, and reimagine everyday items.
  • Hands-on projects turn recycled materials into creative, useful creations.

Roots, Shoots, & Soil Science

Dig into soil types, learn what plants need to thrive, and observe how roots, stems, and leaves develop. Nature walks focus on noticing plant growth in different environments. Throughout the week, explorers plant fast-growing seeds and herbs, study compost basics, and care for young plants — taking home a potted herb or seedling they’ve grown themselves.

Pollinators & Wildlife Protectors

Learn about bees, butterflies, birds, and other local wildlife while discovering how pollinators support healthy ecosystems. Through hands-on activities like making seed bombs, bee hotels, or bird feeders, they explore ways humans can help protect habitats. Nature walks encourage observation of wildlife homes and thoughtful discussion about human impact.

Makers Market

Explorers design and create handmade items for a Makers Market, such as candles, herbal soaps, and scented garden sachets. Through these activities, they learn crafting skills, experiment with natural scents, express creativity, and celebrate their creations by displaying or sharing them in a marketplace setting.

Garden to Table

Explorers learn where food comes from by planting, harvesting, and identifying fruits, vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers. Nature walks focus on recognizing edible vs. non-edible plants and seasonal growth. Garden activities emphasize responsibility and care as explorers tend to food plants; harvesting items to take home and enjoy with their families.

Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine!

Explorers learn to reduce waste, reuse materials, and reimagine everyday items in creative ways. They play sorting games, build art, toys, or tools from reclaimed materials, and go on nature scavenger hunts for reusable inspiration. Activities culminate in making eco-badges or medals to celebrate their sustainability skills.
