Camp Kids Klub Traditions
We believe that camp is an essential experience in a child's life. Camp is about the feeling that anything is possible. Children should spend their time at camp on adventures and having dynamic experiences- learning, playing, making lifelong friends, and being surrounded by people that inspire them.
As our camp song says, "In 1995, Kids Klub arrived!", and we have been perfecting summer camp ever since! Here are some of our favorite things!
Simply put, Spirit is the driving force behind all the excitement at Camp Kids Klub. First, each group decides on a group name. Next, they create an awesome cheer and exciting banner to present in front of the whole camp. At the end of the day, the group that shows the most spirit and creativity at closing circle earns the Spirit Stick (and the yummy treats are hidden inside!). Campers make fast friends while competing for this treasured prize. For many campers, winning the spirit stick can be the highlight of their camp experience.
THE HOOZIT is a special carabiner that is secretly passed between counselors throughout the day. Campers can help protect or distract counselors from the mischievous Hoozit. Eventually, the counselor who ends up with the Hoozit at the end of the day receives a SQUASHER, a shaving cream pie in the face!
Nothing tastes better at the end of a hot summer day than a delicious Otter Pop, our favorite yummy frozen treat! Every afternoon we celebrate another successful day at camp with Otter Pops for everyone!
Our most treasured tradition is our Friday afternoon awards ceremony. We recognize campers individually with a unique, handmade award to celebrate their experience at Camp Kids Klub. This is so important because we want to commemorate each campers' personal growth during the week. Camp Kids Klub Awards are taken home by every camper on Fridays as a reminder of the fun we've had and the friends we've made.
Hobby Hour is a favorite Kids Klub tradition complete with its own chant, “WHAT TIME IS IT?!....IT’S HOBBY HOUR! IT’S HOBBY HOUR! IT’S HOBBY HOUR!” It is a time where kids can discover new passions with the help of an expert counselor in a safe and inspiring setting. Each week, children get to choose from a variety of hobbies—each of which is conceived of—and led by—a specific staff member. This deeper dive into a particular hobby often results in larger projects and surprisingly developed skills. Since our hobbies rotate each week, our children are exposed to endless passions and pastimes. Some examples of past Hobby Hours include:
We recognize that some children naturally gravitate towards glittery crafts and scrapbooking, while other children are more interested in doing a science experiment or playing basketball. It is no secret that children appreciate having choices. Moreover, having choices is vital to their autonomous development and improves their decision-making skills. Thus, ROUND ROBIN! During Round Robin campers can rotate between all activities freely or just stay at one. We ensure that there are at least 4 structured, dynamic activities. Round Robin sounds exactly like it’s name – it is designed to help our campers to be the most well-ROUNDed version of themselves.
FRIENDS TO LAST A LIFETIME
Above all, Camp Kids Klub is all about friendships, new and old! Whether you have been coming to camp for five years or it is your first day, you can count on making friends right away. To that end, we do team building first thing every Monday morning so that campers get to know one another and their counselors. Moreover, throughout the week we continue to play wacky games during group time to solidify these bonds. We believe that camp friendships are some of the strongest friendships you can have. We love seeing those friendships grow year after year!

Campers have a BLAST during the day at camp, while parents have peace of mind!
In effect, Camp Kids Klub is a Family! Campers return year after year singing our camp song, and many go on to become CIT's (Counselors in Training) and Counselors.
